About Training for Development Scholarship Society (TDSS)

Individual Scholarship Programs

In its pursuit of the goal of sustainable development, TDSS also provides Project Scholarship/Fellowship Assistance in the form of Financial assistance, Networking and Logistical support to individuals and groups working in the field of development. For this – TDSS identifies small individual organizations (NGOs mostly run by one of two activists) and socially proactive individuals in the rural/villages of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa. They are motivated, assisted and enabled to work for developmental concerns based on – economic, social and educational parameters. It helps in reaching to the lowest bottom of the developmental activism. TDSS focuses its efforts on grooming individuals and organizations, streamlining their functioning, capacity building of individuals and organizations , and intervening locally. This results in better, effective, systematic and coordinated management of individuals, organizations and resources.

This grooming of individuals and organizations works out in three phases:

  1. Engagement:  Individuals or organizations are identified, recruited and engaged in development work.
  2. Consolidation: The partnership is strengthened by enhanced financial assistance, expanded programs, activities and goals. Also, more stringent monitoring and capacity building takes place in this phase.
  3. Consummation: Better performing individuals/organizations are retained and fully integrated into the partnership for development – until the logical realization of sustainable development of the target are and target group

TDSS currently supports the development work of 55 individual project scholarship holders; 47 in Maharashtra and 8 in Karnataka. The projects continue to be vibrant and productive of results where leadership is innovative and has the skill to negotiate with partners in the field.

The path of development is long, the terrain tough – But the resolve and perseverance of individual scholarship activists to stay their course is inspiring even as it provides a stable rearguard to action for sustainable development.

Below is a profile of a few individual scholarship holders and their projects that we have supported:

  • Bheemrao Shinde
  • Bhaskar Munde and Alka Salunke
